A
native of Columbus, Ohio, Shook graduated from Babson College
in Wellesley, MA in 1987 and has been in the securities
industry ever since. Hired as a Financial Advisor at Prudential-Bache
Securities in 1987, his experience ranges from Investment
Banking, to Research, to creating and managing Prudential
Securities' Web initiatives.
R.J.
began his career as a financial advisor. Frustrated that he
didn't have access to top advisors from which he could learn
best practices, he wrote his first Winner's Circle
book, which profiles the best advisors in the business. After
a decade of Wall Street experience, he is now writing his
fourth Winner's Circle, which will be his ninth book
when it's released in 2004. The Winner's Circle IV
will profile the top 100 advisors in the business.
His
experience in profiling champions extends into the NFL, where
he helps to profile football players with Dr. Kevin Elko.
R.J., Kevin and R.J.'s father, Robert Shook, a New York Times
best-selling author who has written nearly 50 books, are writing
a book called Pep Talks, Half Time Lessons that Last a
Lifetime.
As
an expert in identifying success patterns and characteristics
of the industry's top producers, no one has accomplished as
much in-depth studies in the financial services industry as
R.J. Last September R.J. began publishing a yearly ranking
of top advisors in Registered Rep Magazine in a cover story
titled "America's Top Brokers." Beginning in April 2003 he
is writing a Winner's Circle column in Research Magazine,
each month profiling one Winner's Circle advisor. As
a recognized authority on best practices in the financial
services industry, R.J. offers speeches, workshops, and leads
panel discussions on topics that are tailored for the audience
and venue.
Shook
resigned from Prudential Securities in June, 1999 to pursue
his writing career on a full-time basis.
